Pam Hamilton [00:00:00]:
You're listening to Becoming Seen, the Art and Science of Creating Authentic Visibility with your host, Pam Hamilton. Episode 9, what's your why?

Pam Hamilton [00:00:16]:
Welcome To another episode of Becoming Seen, the podcast where you explore the art and science of creating authentic visibility So you can find the courage to be seen, heard, valued, and create a life you love with your host, mindset and visibility expert, Pam

Pam Hamilton [00:00:42]:
Hey there. How you doing, you amazing souls? Welcome back to another episode of Becoming Seen, the art and science of creating authentic visibility. I'm your host, Pam Hamilton. And today, we're deep diving into a question that's the heart of our journey. What's your why? Let's explore why choosing to become seen is so vital for us, especially as women solopreneurs over 50 who have spent a lot of our lives hiding and playing small. And more importantly, how knowing our why can be the secret sauce to finding the courage to be seen, so we can actually increase our visibility. What's the big deal about visibility anyway? Well, for one thing, It's not just about being in the spotlight. Right? It's about sharing your authentic self, your passion, and your purpose with the world.

Pam Hamilton [00:01:46]:
And that brings us to the question of the day. What's your why? Because as a client once said to me, I'm not Really interested in visibility for visibility's sake. And I totally understood that because being invisible feels safe, Doesn't it? And maybe it could even be a superpower like Susan Richards from the Fantastic Four. Although it's kind of interesting that it was the woman that became invisible, isn't it? The thing is, And visibility is only a superpower in the movies. There, you can choose to take it off and put it on at will. Right, for your own intentional purposes. But it rarely works like that in real life. In real life, Invisibility often comes with a sense of powerlessness, feeling stuck, and a lot of self limiting and beliefs in your business and in your life.

Pam Hamilton [00:02:48]:
And yet she had a valid point. Why are you doing this? What's the point? Why do you want to be seen? And that, my friends, is the $1,000,000 question. Because your why is your anchor. It's the reason you get out of bed in the morning and the driving force behind your business. So let's unpack why it's crucial to know your why when it comes to becoming Let's see. Why does your why matter? Your why is like your North Star. It guides you, grounds you, and keeps you focused on the bigger picture. When things get tough, and let's face it, They will.

Pam Hamilton [00:03:36]:
Right? Your why is your anchor. It's your reminder of why you started this journey in the 1st place. It fuels your courage. A couple of years ago before COVID hit, I was asked to be part of a panel discussion on inner guidance. And I was gonna be speaking live on stage to a group of several 100 people, And I had said yes. I was nervous. I mean, it was something I would have never agreed to do in the past, but I had chosen to step out of invisibility and to share my message of hope to others who had struggled like I had. I had to do this.

Pam Hamilton [00:04:21]:
And yet, as the time got closer, I could Feel the nerves starting to kick in. When it was my turn to speak, my voice began to quaver. And my leg felt like it was shaking so hard that everyone must have known I was a nervous wreck. Then I remembered my why. I remember it it was not about me. It was about the impact I wanted to make in the world, the lives I wanted to touch and lift up. And suddenly, I was okay. Right? Knowing my why gave me a surge of courage because it was bigger than my fear.

Pam Hamilton [00:05:02]:
And later on, getting feedback from the audience, No one ever even suspected how incredibly nervous I was. So now that we understand the importance of knowing our why, Let's talk about how to hone in on it and use it to be courageous, to live our lives courageously, willing and able to do brave things. So the 1st tip I wanna share with you is to reflect on your passion. Right? What lights your soul on fire? What makes you leap out of bed in the morning with excitement? Because if you'll reflect on your passion, that's often where your why resides. And number 2, connect with your impact. Think about the impact you wanna have. How do you wanna change lives even in the smallest way? Your why is deeply connected to that positive change you're envisioning. This counts even if you're not a business owner.

Pam Hamilton [00:06:06]:
Right? Maybe you wanna be an example of going for your dreams, so your daughter will know it's okay to go after hers. Or like Nightbird, that no matter what your circumstances are, You can live full out until the very end of your existence here on this earth. Another tip, tip number 3, consider your legacy. Picture yourself looking back at your life. What legacy do you wanna leave behind? Because your why is usually intricately woven into that legacy you aspire to create. Tip number 4, uncover your story. Your personal story is a gold mine for your why. What challenges have you overcome? And how do they fuel your determination? Like me, your why might be hidden in the chapters of your own journey.

Pam Hamilton [00:07:03]:
Number 5. Embrace authenticity. Your wife thrives in authenticity. Be true to yourself. Don't craft a why that you think others wanna hear. Embrace your unique story, and your why will naturally emerge. You know, there was a time when I doubted whether my voice mattered, whether Anyone would care about what I had to say because of the things I believed about myself. But when my mindset changed about who I was, I tapped into my why.

Pam Hamilton [00:07:43]:
And I realized is that my purpose was to empower women like you. Amazing women solopreneurs over 50 who were still stuck in that same old Same old. And those powerful self limiting blocks to finally have the courage to step into the spotlight with confidence. Regardless of who you are or what you might have believed about yourself in the past. And that why became my guiding light, propelling me past my doubts and fears. So, my friends, take some time to discover your why. It's your secret weapon, your source of courage, and the heartbeat of your journey to becoming seen. Before we wrap up, Remember this.

Pam Hamilton [00:08:30]:
You're not alone on this path. We're in this together, navigating the waves of visibility and courage. So go out there, embrace your why, and let the world see the incredible soul that you are. Thank you for tuning in to another episode of Becoming Seen. And until next time, keep shining your unique light, And I'll catch you on the next episode.
