Pam Hamilton [00:00:00]:

You're listening to Becoming Seen, the Art and Science of Creating Authentic Visibility, with your host, Pam Hamilton. Episode 8, Owning Your Strengths and Differences.

Pam Hamilton [00:00:21]:

Welcome to another episode of Becoming Seen, the podcast where you explore the art and science of Creating authentic visibility so you can find the courage to be seen, heard, valued, and create a life you love With your host, mindset and visibility expert, Pam Hamilton.

Pam Hamilton [00:00:47]:

Hey, everybody. Welcome to Become and Seen and the 1st episode of the reboot. I'm your host, Pam Hamilton. And today, we're gonna be talking about a topic that's absolutely empowering. I'm talking about owning your strengths and differences. You know, life can be a really crazy roller coaster, just full of twists and turns and ups and downs. But one thing's for sure. You've got to own your own ride.

Pam Hamilton [00:01:19]:

That's why today, we're talking about something really close to my heart. Embracing and celebrating what makes you well, you. Right? The external world, especially nowadays, is pretty divided and even mean sometimes. I mean, folks wanna make you feel small and less than if you're different from them. But your internal world? Regardless of the conditions and circumstances surrounding you. That's what you make of it. It depends on your mindset and how you to yourself in the world. So it's really important that you see yourself in a positive light.

Pam Hamilton [00:02:00]:

Like, you're a one of a kind masterpiece and the world is your gallery. Because the world wants to force us to blend in and conform to whatever is considered the norm. And, that can make us forget that our quirks, our strengths, and our unique perspectives are not only what makes us stand out in the crowd. It's what makes us who we are. And it's what has created our gift and our unique message that someone is waiting to hear in the 1st place. So let's start by taking a moment to Thierry, the fantastic artwork that is you. Okay? Really? Like, just grab a mirror. Seriously, go get 1.

Pam Hamilton [00:02:50]:

I I'll wait. Now look into that mirror and say, I am a masterpiece in progress. And I love every brush stroke. Go on. Go on. I'm a wait. How'd that feel? That's kinda liberating. Right? You are a masterpiece made from all the combined moving parts that are your strengths and differences.

Pam Hamilton [00:03:26]:

So let's start by talking about your strengths. We all have them. But, sometimes, they're hidden in plain sight. In fact, you might not even recognize that you have one. For example, I had a conversation with a woman that swore she couldn't do anything special. Let alone have some kind of talent. And Yet she did. She threw the most amazing kids' parties.

Pam Hamilton [00:03:59]:

I mean, she literally had the kids' seal of approval. All of her children had loved the party she threw for them. Her grandchildren were loving them. Friends raved about them and asked for help doing it for their kids. Her parties were Pinterest worthy and she did it all on a Walmart budget. Have you ever tried to throw a really good Kids party on a super tight budget? It's not easy. She had a superpower and never realized it. She was like, oh, that? Anybody can do that.

Pam Hamilton [00:04:37]:

And see, the thing is, she's not alone in thinking thoughts like that. Maybe your superpower is being an excellent listener or a master organizer or excelling at martial arts, Making paper mache dolls or playing the tuba. The point is, it's the things you're really good at and enjoy doing. The things that come to you so easily, you think anybody could do it? Yeah. Those are your superpowers. That's just strengths. Recognize yours yet? And kudos to you, my friend. Kudos.

Pam Hamilton [00:05:15]:

Embrace those strengths. If you're a fantastic communicator, shout it from the rooftops. If you're a problem solving wizard, wave that wand proudly. The world needs your unique brand of magic. But And there's always a but. Right? Let's not forget about the beauty of our differences, Our quirks, our idiosyncrasies, even the things we get picked on about or want to hide. Because in reality, they're the spice that makes our magic stand out. It's what shapes our perspectives and carves our message in the light that our audience needs to hear it from.

Pam Hamilton [00:06:02]:

What I'm saying is that Who you are in the world, your race and skin color, your gender, your sexuality, your ethnicity, whether you grew up rich or poor, loved Or abused with 1 parent or 2. Big family or tiny one. Disabled or not. Popular or not so much. It all factors in to how you see the world. And your lived experiences navigating the world and how it treats you shapes your perspective as to how you see and express yourself. And there are people that identify and resonate with how you express a thing, much better than how someone else does, even if they're making the same point you are. So own those differences.

Pam Hamilton [00:06:54]:

It's what makes you unique. It's the secret sauce that will let you shine and attract your ideal people to you. The lesson here? Don't be afraid to be your authentic self and Show off the uniqueness of who you are to the world. One last thing. I just wanna share a quick tip. Make a practice of intentionally combining your strengths and differences. It's like making a recipe for your own personal success movie. For example, take your knack for numbers and sprinkling your love for storytelling And voila, you've got a powerful combo that's uniquely you.

Pam Hamilton [00:07:39]:

Thank you for joining me on this episode of Becoming Seen. I hope you leave with a renewed sense of self love and a commitment to owning your strengths and differences. Until next time, Keep being authentically you. And remember this, you are a rare gem, a dazzling star in the vast universe to humanity and never need to be afraid to shine brightly. This is Pam Hamilton signing off. Take care, beautiful souls.
